Busch Gardens

Busch Gardens, a 335-acre family entertainment park packed with thrill rides, live entertainment, animals in natural settings, shops, restaurants and games in nine distinctly themed areas. With more than 3,400 animals roaming throughout the park, Busch Gardens is one of the top zoos in the country. And thanks to the new "Edge of Africa" expansion, visitors can now wander through an African village populated by hyenas, a fishing village housing hippopotamuses, baboons and various species of fish and a safari encampment overrun by lions. At Busch Gardens, visitors can also try to tame the park's other savage beasts — a collection of record-breaking roller coasters. On "Montu," one of the world's tallest and longest inverted steel roller coaster, visitors' feet dangle below the car as they drop nearly 13 stories and flip through a corkscrew finale. While on "Kumba," the southeast's largest and fastest roller coaster, riders travel at over 60 mph down nearly 4,000 feet of track towering at a height of 135 feet. Younger children will enjoy playing in the Land of Dragons, featuring climb-through mazes, watery play areas, corkscrew slides, net climbs, secret rooms and reptile exhibits.

Bird Gardens

The oldest area of the park is also one of the most exotic and interesting. Featuring thousands of birds and free beer, the Bird Gardens are a popular place. Until 1999, the whole focus of the Bird Gardens was birds, but then came Gwazi. The largest wooden roller coasters in Florida make their home in Busch Gardens and the Bird Gardens. Gwazi is a dueling roller coaster with two, unique tracks. The click of the lift hill and the roar of the wood fill the entire area.

Congo

In the northwest section of the park lies the dense jungle of Congo. The area is full of action and attractions, while having the most vegetation in the park. All architecture blends seamlessly into the jungle landscape to contribute to the overall appearance of the area. Breezing through the jungle is the Bolliger and Mabillard roller coaster, Kumba. Wherever you are in the area, the roar of Kumba will be heard. Congo also houses the classic Arrow corkscrew, Python.

Crown Colony

Though quite small, the Crown Colony is a very active area. The main attractions of the area are the Skyride and Crown Colony House Restaurant. The Crown Colony House is a full service restaurant with a great view of the Serengeti Plain. The Clydesdale stable also lies within the Crown Colony area. At the stable, guests have the opportunity to pet the horses and also learn about them.

Edge of Africa

Take a personal safari into the depths of the Serengeti Plain with the Edge of Africa. One of the unique things about the Edge of Africa includes the habitats. Busch Gardens carefully crafts the habitats as replicas of the environments found in Africa. Habitats range from savannahs to ponds with animals ranging from lions to hyena to meerkats.

Egypt

Enter the world of Egypt at Busch Gardens Tampa. Egypt is the newest themed area to Busch Gardens and is also one of the best. All the buildings have been crafted to fit the Egyptian theme by using stone columns and cloth awnings. Explore the tomb of King Tutankhamen or ride the main attraction of Egypt, Montu. Montu, an inverted roller coaster, dominates the whole second half of Egypt.
Land of Dragons

While Busch Gardens Tampa contains high-tech thrill rides, the park also features a wonderfully themed area for children. If you have children, be sure to take them to the Land of the Dragons. The area features tons of kiddie sized attractions including a Ferris wheel, carousel, a massive tree house playground, plus more attractions.
Morocco

As you first enter Busch Gardens Tampa, you also first enter Morocco. The area is full of African themed shops filled with all kinds of memorabilia. From Anheuser-Busch labeled t-shirts to toys, the shops in Morocco have almost anything you can find anywhere else in the park.
Myombe Reserve

Busch Gardens is dedicated to the preservation of animals, endangered or not. The Myombe Reserve offers guests in Florida to see how the closest relatives to humans, gorillas and chimpanzees, live and interact. The environment has been crafted to that of an African jungle, featuring trees, rocks, and waterfalls. Except for after sunset, guests can walk through the Myombe Reserve at any time.
Nairobi

On the edge of the Serengeti Plain lies Nairobi. Animal exhibits fill the area, ranging from elephants to tortoises. Even the main attraction, Rhino Rally, heavily involves animals. Nairobi also features the Backbones of Life exhibit, where you have the opportunity to view ancient animal artifacts.
Stanleyville

In the thick jungles of Busch Gardens lies the African land of Stanleyville. The main attractions of Stanleyville are the flume rides, Stanley Falls and the Tanganyika Tidal Wave. Both of the rides are great ways to cool down quickly on a hot, summer day. If you want to be completely soaked, the Tidal Wave is the way to go. Also, the exit bridge goes directly over the splash zone to deliver more wetness.
Timbuktu

In the heart of Busch Gardens lies Timbuktu. Although it is one of the smallest areas of the park, Timbuktu is packed with action. Timbuktu features more rides than any other area of the park with eight. The main ride of the area is the Schwarzkopf single looper, Scorpion. The screams of the Scorpion riders add to the festive environment. Timbuktu also features thrill rides such as the Phoenix and kiddie rides such as the Carousel Caravan.
