The Alps, Burgundy & Lorraine

CHAMONIX. A busy town in the summer months with a wide choice of bars and restaurants. Dominated by the spectacular Mt. Blanc, there is a range of sporting activities and challenging trails for walking enthusiasts.

DIJON. Important architecturally Dijon has some fine examples of 13th and 18th century building. In the wealthy medieval merchant's quarter are cobbled streets lined with half timber houses many are adorned with wooden balconies and grand stone carvings, and in the heart of the city is the Gothic Notre Dame Cathedral with its famous gargoyles. When you tire of sightseeing there are some excellent places to eat.

LYON. The second largest city in France Lyon is famous for its gastronomic excellence. There is a wealth of attractions for the holiday maker such as a free open air cinema during the summer, superb Roman, Medieval, and Renaissance architecture plus a multitude of shops, boutiques, and museums including the renown Lion tapestry.

METZ. As a European cross-roads Metz has been witness to many historic events since the Romans in 2000 BC. Now a modern city that plays host to many music festivals, and won the European award for flowers grown in the 450 hectares of open green space. There is a large pedestrianised centre for shops, restaurants and bars. Metz is a city of contrasts.

TIGNES. The sparkling clear air of the Espace Killy the Alps will refresh and invigorate you and the choice of shops, bars and restaurants will delight you. The super sports complex and summer skiing on the Grand Motte Glacier offers an unbeatable challenge. The Vanoise National Park is a spectacle of Alpine flora and fauna, allowing you to get up close is a feature of this beautiful park.
