Monaco lives up to its reputation as the rich and famous come out to watch the drivers fight with the twists and turns of the famous street circuit. Whoever wins the race the elegance and sophistication of the event generates an atmosphere that is unique to Monaco.
From the tricky right-hand start at Ste Devote, through the hairpin at Mirabeau and beyond, every one of the 80 seconds of the circuit demands focus and determination. This is the Grand Prix they all want to win – Montoya took the honours last year, with Raikkonen hot on his tail - but Monaco will always remain predictably unpredictable.
Our main base is the delightful city of Nice, only 25 kilometres from the tiny Principality of Monaco. As you enjoy the Riviera sun, stroll along the Promenade des Anglais, indulge in a spot of al fresco dining, and chat with the affable Nicoise, be warned that your thoughts might turn to holiday homes.
Our favourite viewing points are tribunes L, T, E, A1 and K but to watch the Grand Prix in real Monaco style, opt for the terrace of the Shangri La directly above the start and finish area, with a view of more than half of the race circuit. |
