PORTINATX
IBIZA

 
One of the prettiest resorts on the island, Portinatx has a glorious white sandy beach, offering lots of different types of water sports including excellent diving facility. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants, bars and a variety of shops. The town is the ideal base for a touring holiday, so why not hire a car and explore the island. .
BEACHES
Puerto de San Miguel Beach.
The beach of San Miguel is a favourite with water sports enthusiasts and families. The beach has no shade so go prepared with lots of sunscreen and cover ups. Near the beach are a few restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops. Activities include windsurfing, pedaloes, sailing, volleyball, diving, banana boat and water-skiing. Surrounded by pine covered hills this is also a popular walking area. Buses run regularly to San Miguel, 5 km away.
Benirras Beach.
This is a small bay, with a beautiful sandy beach enclosed by rocky outcrops on each side. The calm bay is a favourite spot for private yachts and motor boats, who come to see the beautiful sunsets. The beach is also a famous for its 'unplugged' music concerts by local drummers and guitarists. Activities include pedaloes, snorkelling and relaxation. Although the surrounding country is hilly its well know as a good area for walking. The only way to get to this beach is by car just follow the signposts from San Miguel.
The Cala Xarraca and S'illot Beaches.
The Cala Xarraca, beach is the larger of the two but both are sandy with a few cafes. The steep road to get to the beaches can be tricky so take care. This whole area is perfect for walking holidays. Near Xarraca beach are mud baths thought to have healing properties. Activities include pedaloes and snorkelling. The only way to get here is by car just follow the road to Portinatx.

Cala Xuclar Beach.
Set in a small cove this it has a very small beach with fisherman's' cottages. You can buy food from a tiny kiosk near by. This beach offers the ultimate in peace and tranquility. The access road is steep take care. Activities include pedaloes and relaxation, its also a good area for walkers. The only way to get here is by car just follow the road to Portinatx.
Portinatx Beach.
Renown as one of Ibiza's best beauty spots, the bay has superb panoramic views. The shoreline is rocky with a soft sand seabed. The beaches are divided into three areas, each offering a variety of water sports. The largest S'Arenal Gros is across from the main Coach Park. S'Arenal Petit, is a much small beach with more privacy. Further along from a rocky promontory on the left, set in a little cove, is the third beach Playa Porto Beach. Activities include windsurfing, diving and pedaloes. You can get here either by car or bus the routes are well sign posted.
Cala San Vicente Beach.
This beach is a good family beach with its soft sand and clear shallow water. There is a small pedestrianised tree lined promenade with a few cafes. The surrounding pine covered hills in this quiet area are ideal for walking. The road coming in from the south has marvellous views of the whole bay, making it a popular with photographers. Please note always take care where you park the car when you stop to take pictures. Activities include pedaloes, windsurfing and a banana boat. To get to this beach is by car or bus (the buses can be infrequent check before setting out).
THINGS TO DO AND SEE.
C'an Marça Caves.
The caves are well worth a visit, at the entrance you will get some breathtaking sea views. The caves are multi-leveled and where once the haunt of pirates and smugglers, your multilingual guide tells the stories. Over many century's stalagmites and stalagmites have formed to create wired and fantastic shapes, at the centre you will see a spectacular Music and Light Show, including a 30 ft cascade of water, the droplets sparkling like precious gems. The tours are hourly from 10.30 am until sunset. Open all year. You can get to this beach either by car or bus.
D'Alt Vila.
The old medieval district of Ciudad de Ibiza (Ibiza Town) gives a fascinating insight into the history of Ibiza. The town has narrow cobbled streets and pretty whitewashed houses. The Gothic architecture, built around courtyards are decked with geraniums and bougainvillaea. The old town, is enclosed by walls and is entered through the Puerta de las Tablas. The Archaeological Museum houses artefacts from prehistoric sites on the Balearic Islands, dating back to the Punic period between the 5th and 7th centuries BC. Also worth seeing is the cathedral with a 10th century Gothic tower and an 18th century Baroque nave.
