ANDALUCIA
|
|
Andalucia is well-served by golf courses, marinas and all types of leisure facilities plus six hundred kilometres of sandy beaches and huge unspoiled natural areas with an extraordinary range of flora and fauna. The El Torcal park with its unusual rock formations is one of the most impressive limestone landscapes in Europe. These acres of open ground plus the mild climate make outdoor pursuits such as walking, riding and mountain bicycling popular with locals and visitors alike and these are well-catered for throughout the area. For an authentic taste of rural life there are many delightful inland villages to explore, most are just a half days drive from the coast. It is also likely that whilst in Andalucia you will come cross a fiesta as over three thousand such celebrations take place each year including fairs, pilgrimages, carnivals and mock battles. Nevertheless, as in other areas of Spain the tradition of watching the world go by from a pavement café or tapas bar remains one of the most popular ways to relax. The city of Málaga is the capital of the province, a charming city with leafy avenues. The central market is not to be missed; fish, meat, cheese, fruit and vegetables are all fantastically fresh and at the best prices. Indeed food lovers will relish the many culinary treats typical of the area, on the coast you will find the finest fresh fish and seafood and inland superb cured ham, sausage and game dishes plus delicious vegetable and meat stews.
