Binibeca An immaculate and appealing holiday resort characterised by the warm colours of
pantiled rooftops on the many private villas here which gleam against the
backdrop of the Mediterranean. The area, situated on the south east coast,
caters for all tastes and age groups, especially those looking for a villa
holiday by their own poolside. The resort is just a short transfer journey
through countryside from the airport and is famous for its holiday `fishing
village' at Binibeca Vell, a prize winning development by a Catalan architect.
Here the streets meander through small squares and high whitewashed stone
walling. There are a number of small bars and restaurants and a lively square.
The main Binibeca beach lies one kilometre to the east of Binibeca Vell between
low headlands ringed by pinewoods. The beach is of soft white sand and, being
gently shelving, is ideal for children. A busy cafe stands on one headland and
pedaloes, which are very popular in the safe waters of the bay, can be hired
from here. Snorkelling is a popular pastime as the water is crystal clear and
the coastline has many rocky inlets and pools to explore. Further beaches are to be found on both sides of the resort.
Cala Galdana In an idyllic setting on the south coast, the road to the resort sweeps steeply down to sea level revealing shimmering glimpses of the brilliant blue bay through the pines in this 'Queen of the Calas'. The splendour of the limestone cliffs , the fringe of white sand and clear azure of the sea is simply breathtaking. The crescent of sand gently shelves and is ideal for families with children. In 1994 the beach was awarded the coveted European Community 'Blue Flag' for safe bathing and an abundance of watersports including snorkelling and windsurfing are readily available. All facilities are close at hand, and the resort has a lively childrens water park close to the beach, with its own cafe bar.
Cal n Blanes Situated just north of the beautiful old capital city of Ciutadella on Menorca's
western fringes, Cal'n Blanes is part of an amalgamation of three resorts,
including Cala'n Forcat and Cal'n Bruch. More relaxed than its busier
neighbours, but still with a wide variety of amenities, Cal'n Blanes jewel is
its delightful beach, set back in a sheltered cove and with its own pretty palm
grove behind. Cala'n Bruch also has a small beach, although if you have a car
then there are many more unspoilt beaches within half an hour along the north
coast. Back in Cal'n Blanes, entertainments include every type of watersport
invented, including a diving centre nearby. This is a good choice for families,
with plenty of places to eat out, many of which offer childrens' menus.
Nightlife is varied, with music bars and restaurants forming the majority here,
although the los Delfines area of Cal'n Forcat is much livelier
Santo Tomas The journey through the countryside on the road to the south coast resort of Santo Tomas is a pleasure all of its own! The sweeping country road threads through what must be some of the most beautiful and typical Menorcan landscape you will encounter - a latticework of dry stone walls, olive groves, pine woods and the inevitable herds of Friesian cattle. Santo Tomas is an excellent choice for families, most development being centred on the long beach of fine white sand which operates a flag system for safe bathing. Watersports facilities are readily available on the beach and hotel and beach bars back onto the sands. Another attraction for families are the pools at the Mestral Apartments, which our clients are free to use. There is also a pony club for youngsters based in the resort.
